SOPHYSA: 50 Years of French Innovation in Neurosurgery

This year, SOPHYSA celebrates half a century of expertise, innovation, and commitment.

Since 1976, we have been designing and manufacturing in France shunt systems and intracranial pressure monitoring solutions that support neurosurgeons every day in the management of hydrocephalus and intracranial pathologies, with the same guiding principles: reliability, precision, and patient safety.

From the very beginning, we have helped shape the history of neurosurgery with:

  • the Sophy® Mini, the world’s first adjustable valve,

  • the Polaris®, the first MRI-resistant adjustable valve,

along with numerous innovations that enable medical teams to tailor treatments to each patient’s clinical needs.

For 50 years, we have worked side by side with healthcare professionals, co-developing reliable, durable solutions adapted to real-world clinical practice.

Today, we are proud to see our devices used in more than 70 countries, helping improve the quality of life of thousands of patients worldwide.

This anniversary will also be an opportunity to celebrate with our teams and partners, who contribute every day to the ongoing success of SOPHYSA.

This milestone reflects not only the strength of our history, but also the continuity of our commitment for the decades ahead.
