The Pressio® MRI Support ensures a perfect and repeatable coiling of the Pressio® Catheter (MR conditional marked) to avoid any thermal brain injury. The Pressio® MRI Support allows sensor wires to be coiled in a perpendicular way to the body axis, with 4-5 loops of 5cm, and to be safely positioned on the top of the patient’s head.
It has been demonstrated that coiling the sensor wire in this way drastically reduces the “antenna effect” and consequently the heating of the tip(1). The “antenna effect” of the sensor wire is caused by the resonant radiofrequency (RF) and can lead to the heating of the catheter tip up to 64°C 1 if positioned in a straight line during an MRI examination.
